ESF to host U.S. Small Business Administration Training Program Graduation!

SUNY ESF will proudly host the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) e200 USA graduation on Wednesday, November 2, 2011  on the ESF campus.  As one of ten community partners, we congratulate the e200 program graduates, instructor John D. Liddy, and our colleagues at the SBA Syracuse District Office on this outstanding effort.  

The e200 Graduation Program outlines the graduation program, describes this training program, and features the graduates, each of whom are already successful business owners and community leaders.

e200 (or more formally, The Emerging 200 Initiative) is an intensive training initiative to accelerate high-potential small business growth in America’s inner cities.  The comprehensive curriculum provides participants tools that will help them to catapult their business to the next level and help them to emerge as a growing and self-sustaining business in our community.  Developed by the U.S. SBA, the e200 training program is supported by a coalition of local economic champions and by business advisors and mentors who lend invaluable insight and expertise.

The e200 graduation will feature a presentation by Michael Chodos , Associate Administrator, Office of Entrepreneurial Development, U.S. Small Business Administration.  Mr. Chodos is responsible for overseeing the agency’s counseling and training resources and programs for America’s entrepreneurs.

‘Father of Green Chemistry’ to Speak at Green Building Conference!

Paul Anastas, Ph.D., will speak at the 10th Annual New York State Green Building Conference on March 29, 2012.

Anastas earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in chemistry from Brandeis University and is a synthetic organic chemist. He joined the Yale University faculty in 2007 and is now the director of the Center for Green Chemistry and Green Engineering, and the inaugural Teresa and H. John Heinz III Professor in the Practice of Chemistry for the Environment at Yale’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.

Anastas has also been nominated by President Barack Obama to serve as the assistant administrator for the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Research and Development and as a science advisor to the EPA.

As the “Father of Green Chemistry,” Anastas has been recognized nationally and internationally for his many contributions to science and the environment, as well as for his innovative research on the design, manufacture, and use of minimally toxic, environmentallyf riendly chemicals.

The New York State Green Building Conference will take place March 29 and 30 at the Oncenter in Syracuse, NY. The conference serves as a forum for green building research and development, best practices, and discussions on green building science and operation and maintenance, as well as an opportunity to network with other green building experts, professionals and researchers.
