Our dear friend and colleagues, Dave Eichorn, has been in the news recently. After 20+ years as one of the most beloved meteorologists on Central New York television, Dave committed to completing his bachelor’s degree through SUNY’s Empire State College. Immediately after, Dave joined us here at ESF to work on a master’s degree (he earned that degree in 2011) and to collaborate with several of us on a  NASA-funded Global Climate Change Education Grant.

Dave continues to teach during ESF’s new Summer Session. He will teach two courses this Summer:

  • Meteorology (FOR 338):  9:00 am – 12:45 pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays during Summer Session II (July 1 – August 9, 2013). This is an on-campus course.
  • Climate Change Science and Sustainability (ENS 200).  This is an online course scheduled for Maymester (May 13 – May 24, 2013).

More recently, the Syracuse Media Group announced that, “One of the best-known and authoritative voices on Central New York weather, Dave will forecast the weather and explain our unique and fast-changing conditions, via and The Post-Standard.”  Tim Kennedy, president of the Syracuse Media Group, said “We are thrilled to add Dave Eichorn’s unmatched expertise and energy to the new Syracuse Media Group. He will immediately explore innovative ways to inform and engage our Central New York audience in all things weather-related.” Read the complete article:
